Ripon Scenic Cruises offers narrowboat cruises on the Ripon Canal.

Our narrowboat cruises are perfect for seeing the countryside and wildlife at a slower pace, and a great way to spend time with family and friends, or to take some time out for yourself. If you’re looking for things to do in Ripon, look no further.

We run a range of special events throughout the year, including Afternoon Tea Cruises, Supersoaker Cruises and our popular Easter Eggstravaganza.

Private Hire is available – if you would like to book a narrowboat cruise for your party, your friends and family or for a special occasion, please do get in touch.

About the Pride of Ripon

The Pride of Ripon is fully insured and licensed to carry 12 people.

Based at the beautiful up and coming Ripon Canal Basin, there is ample free car parking on site (spaces permitting)

It is wheelchair-accessible, and up to two wheelchairs can be accommodated.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Opening Hours for Autumn Term Time 2026

Monday, Thursday and Saturday 11 am – 3.30 pm

Cream Teas and Afternoon Teas are available until the end of September.

Petit-Luxe Afternoon Tea Cruise – a leisurely 45-minute cruise with a light afternoon tea. £15.95 pp every Saturday departing at 3.30 pm

“Enjoy this very special offering aboard the little blue boat! A fresh, summer offering of sandwiches, a savoury treat, tray bake and half a scone with jam and cream. Enough but not too much – and a drink, hot or cold from our range.All this, and a peaceful, relaxing, refreshing cruise along the canal.

We had a great time on the boat with a lovely cream scone and tea, with our grandchildren and they absolutely loved it and the captain even allowed our grandson the chance of driving as the captain and so chuffing happy, our granddaughter loved it too seeing the ducks and all of the animals beside the canal she seen dinosaurs owls and kids of other blewup animals. It was a brilliant experience for all of us and the captain give us loads of info regarding the canals. We will definitely call again thanks to all the team

This is always a lovely thing to do and Ripon is lucky to have such a lovely team of people on the canal boat. We have done many of these and we keep re-booking. The staff are so wonderful with children and go out of their way to make it special for them. There is a lot of thought and effort that goes into the themed cruises, and we really appreciate it.  Verified  A hidden gem in Ripon.
Saw a sign for canal boat ride and decided to try it. Lovely scenic trip and very peaceful. The owner steering the boat was friendly and very informative about the local history and other things to see in Ripon. Dogs are welcome on board, they also do afternoon tea trips and a few more. Really friendly welcome, and lots of advice on other places to visit around Ripon, on the cruise itself unfortunately journey had to be shortened due to the lock gates being closed due to lack of water, the information and historical advice given was great, We had our teenage grandson with us who had a great time and thought it was really good, Also, if you have to wait across the courtyard is the forge, which serves a great selection of sandwiches , cakes ,coffees which is well worth a visit as well.

What an absolute hidden gem here in Ripon, had a lovely hours cruise for my birthday & everyone enjoyed it so much. A tranquil trip along the beautiful canal, through a lock (which some of our guests helped with). Richard told us all about the history of the canal & I would highly recommend visiting this, even for the half hour trip... You will not be disappointed, you can even take dogs on board too, our little Pixie enjoyed it as much as we did! This was our 7th or 8th trip & we are booked for another too, we love it!!!

We went to Ripon for the day whilst on holiday (I did my teacher training degree here over 30 years ago). I had seen these cruises advertised on a Ripon Facebook page. We had a lovely peaceful half an hour cruise on the canal with excellent commentary from the skipper. It was extremely good value for money. There’s a small office/place where you can buy drinks, ice cream, snacks etc.
